Timing is everything. Tyrod Taylor, the Buffalo Bills Quarterback, had hernia surgery January 5th, and won’t be able to play football until March 11, unless Tyrod passes his physical. The timing of Tyrod’s surgery might hinder the Buffalo Bills chance of making it to the superbowl this year.
A sports hernia is the tearing muscles in the lower abdominal muscles, and the groin. This is caused by sports activities that involve planting your feet in the ground and twisting with major exertion. 36% of all athletes get a hernia, but most recover. Only 1% of those who take surgery to treat the sports hernia get an infection. To treat a sports hernia, you can take the surgery, or with some physical therapy for some athletes. After the surgery, patients can’t carry anything over 10 l.b. for 2 weeks, and on the 2nd week athletes are told to walk on the treadmill for 20 minutes.
On January 4th, Tyrod met with the team doctors, and decided to take the surgery. The next day, Tyrod undertook the surgery and it was a success. Tyrod will now have a 6-8 week (Or longer) recovery period. After Tyrod recovers, he will take a physical on March 11th. If he passes, he will continue to play for the Buffalo Bills. The timing of Tyrod Taylors recovery is very important. If he isn’t recovered by March 11th,he will receive 27.5 Million dollars and won’t be able to play in the NFL anymore. Tyrod Taylor, the Buffalo Bills quarterback might not be playing in the NFL anymore, because of his sports hernia, unless he passes his physical test on March 11th.
