“We all are focused on improving as an organization and building a team that makes Los Angeles proud,” says Stan Kroenke, owner of the Los Angeles Rams. There have been numerous head coach firings in the NFL lately. Jeff Fisher was fired from the Rams after coaching and leading them for five seasons. Once he started coaching for the Rams he didn’t have a single winning season. After the Rams fired him they finished the season with John Fassel as the head coach. They are currently searching for a new head coach. Jeff Fisher began working for the Rams in 2012. Before that, he started out as a coach for the Titans in 1999 until 2010. With the Titans he had five losing seasons, six winning seasons, and four seasons of even amounts of wins and losses. Finally, near the end of the 2010-2011 season, the Titans and Jeff Fisher decided to part ways mutually. He was then invited to be the head coach of the Rams for the 2012 season. The Rams started out the 2012 season with seven wins, eight losses, and one tie. They played through the next three seasons with significantly more losses than wins. Then, the fifth season had a winning start. They started the first four games with three wins to one loss, but then they lost four games in a row. 12/12/16, the day after the Rams lost to the Falcons, Fisher was fired. When the players were told, they ended up being upset because of it, and quarterback Jared Gopp said, “I think I speak for the whole team when I say he was very well- liked.” The Rams vice president of football operations, Kevin Demoff, said that Jeff Fisher had an, “organizational failure,” and that the turnout of the Falcons to Rams game was based solely off of his performance and coaching. In the meantime, the Rams asked John Fassel to be head coach, who is the son of the Giants former head coach. He had been holding the position of the Ram’s special team’s coordinator for five years previous to that. According to Demoff, he anticipated that Fassel would bring high respect and energy to the team for the last few games. Despite this, they still ended the season with four wins and 12 losses. They are currently looking for a new head coach. As of January 2nd, they were planning on meeting and interviewing at least eight candidates for the position. In conclusion, Jeff Fisher recently was fired from the NFL after a major loss against the Falcons and five years of losing seasons. John Fassel took over to finish the season, and the Rams are now searching for a new head coach. Will they succeed next season and break their losing streak, or will they have another season like the last?
