Were you at the North Scott Junior High band concert on December 12, 2016? If you were, you probably saw all of the amazing musical performances that went on that night. With songs performed by the 7th and 8th grade bands, the night of the concert was not one to miss. While the concert went on, the students made sure that the audience was having fun, and the teachers involved were pleased with their students’ hard work and preparation for this spectacular event. Overall, the North Scott Junior High band concert was an amazing night for both students and teachers alike. First of all, the 7th grade band performance was a big success, and Mrs. McKenna, their director, was very pleased with the hard work and preparation put into the concert. This was the 7th grade band’s very first concert, and they played two songs: “Astron, A New Horizon” and “Liturgical Fanfare”. Before the concert, the students had put in long hours of practice. These practice hours included two times that Mrs. McKenna scheduled to combine both the 3rd period band and the 6th period band to practice playing together. At the concert, both of the bands played together as one big group. According to Mrs. McKenna, the second song, “Liturgical Fanfare”, was played very well because all of the students were focused and watching their director. In summary, the 7th grade band performance was a big accomplishment for everyone involved. In addition to the 7th grade performance, the 8th grade band had one of their best concerts ever! Mrs. Wilson, the 8th grade band director, was very impressed with the performance that was held that night, as they played with great confidence and professionally conducted themselves. To prepare themselves for the winter concert, the 8th graders put in a lot of hard work and practice to perfect their music. The music they performed included songs called “Secret Passage”, “Russian Sailors’ Dance”, and “Terminal Velocity”. “It’s always so fun to finally perform a concert and truly ENJOY the music that we’ve worked so hard to perfect,” said Mrs. Wilson. She’s very proud of the way her students performed at the concert. The 8th grade band had a very positive experience playing, and everyone involved should be proud of them. To sum it up, the North Scott Junior High band concert proved to be an outstanding night for both the students and the teachers involved. This was the very first time the 7th graders had ever performed in a band concert, and everyone is very proud of their achievements. Most of the 8th graders already have performed concerts before, however, this was clearly one of their best. All of the students, no matter the grade level, will continue to get better. The next concert they put on will surely be even more amazing than this one was!
