By: Zachary Johnson It’s almost here! The North Scott High School is building a new multipurpose fitness center that is expected to open in late January 2017. The fitness center will be good for many reasons such as providing the community and school with two basketball courts, help improve other classes, and the weight room will be very good for the school. However, the weight room is not intended to be open for public and community use. By building the new fitness center this will provide the community having some fun on the basketball court and school with another place to work out as well. Equally important, it could also solve some problems with spaces for travel teams to practice and it would provide another place you could play for the basketball tournament, Slamma Jamma, a local tournament hosted by North Scott. The new fitness center will help improve other classes as well. The fitness center will open up space for other classes such as orchestra, cheer, and dance. By building this it will allow for the old weight room to be used for those classes and extra space. Also, by doing this it will allow the students to get the education they need and the space to do so. The weight room will be very useful for the high school and incoming athletes. As a result, this place provides a good place where you can workout and gives you an extra weight room so you can split up the people in the weight room. It had to be moved because the old weight room was too small for that many people, thus, making it safer for the student athletes. In conclusion, the fitness center will be very good for everyone. It will be another place to practice and play giving the high school more space for practices and games. It will also help make our athletes stronger, smarter, and will be safer for everyone. Without a doubt, the new high school fitness center will make everyone happy.
