Good Clothes for a Good Cause By: Kate Andersen Did you know that over 10,000 elephants have been killed for the ivory in their tusks, in only 3 years? This fact may seem astounding, but to some it is nothing new. Every year thousands upon thousands of elephants are killed for their tusks. It seems as though there is nothing we can do, that there is no way to save the elephants, but there is a hero that can save the elephants, and it is in the form of cute shirts. They are called Ivory Ella shirts and they are taking over the world of fashion. Ivory Ella is an online store that you may see around. They sell pins, water bottles, hoodies, hats, and loads of other accessories but they are best known for their signature, adorable, preppy, t-shirts. Ivory Ella was started in April 2015, and is taking the world by storm. Ivory Ella’s slogan is “Good clothes, for a good cause.” and they mean it. With each shirt they donate 10% of their profit to Save the Elephants. At specific times of the year such as, October, National Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and Christmas, they even donate to other charities like the American Heart Association, the Breast Cancer Research Foundation, and even Toys For Tots. In April 2015, 5 entrepreneurs from Westerly, Rhode Island, started Ivory Ella in hopes of making the world a better place. They figured they could make cute graphic t-shirts to spread awareness about these poor elephants. They did, and as the shirts began to grow in popularity they began donating to more charities, and donating a higher percent of their profit. Finally we ended up with the amazing online company we have today. A large turn off of these shirts for some is the price. A typical long-sleeve Ivory Ella shirt costs $31.99, and to most that sounds like a whole lot of money. However, you should know you are getting what you pay for because these shirts are very good quality. Also you get the gratification of knowing that you are donating 10% of that money to a good cause.Ever since 2015, these high-quality, adorable elephant graphic t-shirts have been popping up everywhere, and for good reason too. As of August of 2016, they have donated over $679,000.00 to Save The Elephants and they are still chugging along. Ivory Ella is only growing in popularity so we know they will only grow in popularity as time goes on. Ivory Ella is a great company working for a great cause and they will only continue to grow as time goes on.
