Snapchat Spectacles By Nick Piazza Are you aware that Snapchat is expanding its product line from the original app to now spectacles? They have created the Snapchat Spectacles and they are becoming the newest tech gadget that is wanted by many (Carson). The Snapchat Spectacles have many different features and work with virtually any new smartphone. They make recording moments so much easier and enjoyable with hands free recording (Spectacles and Snap Inc). What are the Snapchat Spectacles? The Snapchat Spectacles were released on September 27th, 2016. They have many different features (Savvides). One includes your view from your own eyes and perspective. However, the spectacles only record when you choose and they light up when you record. They work just like regular sunglasses but they have a camera above one of the lenses that records a 10 second video like Snapchat. Just like the app, the video automatically is sent into your “memories” on Snapchat. This keeps video from deleting so you can post them whenever you want or even edit them. Also something that is good to know, is that the spectacles only take videos and will only work if you have Snapchat. The spectacles come with a charging cord but snapchat also sells a charging case that will charge your glasses for you. But don't worry, the spectacles can take about 100 ten second videos in one charge! These glasses have many astonishing characteristics...the only problem is being able to actually acquire them (Spectacles and Snap Inc). How to get the Snapchat Spectacles Getting your hands on the spectacles are pretty tricky but, according to Carson, there are a few ways that you can. She suggests one way that is difficult but does work. You can chase the Snapchat bot around the country. The Snapchat bot is a pop up vending machine that sells the spectacles but, is only in a location for a short time until it is moved again. The only way to know where it will land is to look on the official Snapchat website where they reveal the location of a bot. Another way that Carson suggests is expensive... buying the spectacles on Ebay for 8 to 10 times the retail price! Carson thinks this way may be dangerous because of fakes or may be broken before you even get them. She suggests one final way to get the glasses. You can rent them for a few days from certain rental programs. There is a lot of buzz around the new tech gadget that has many features. Don’t worry though, because now the spectacles website sells the spectacles online for $130.00. So now you know how to get your spectacles and all the features that come with them as well as the requirements you will need to already have to make the spectacles work. As you can see, the spectacles are very popular because of their amazing ability to take first person video that you could potentially use in your everyday life.
