E3 2016 was a HUGE success.
E3 opened our minds to new games, ways to play, and systems. Most of the things announced really created a lot of hype in gaming, but also some controversy like always. They also announced some new consoles and software such as the Xbox One S, or the playstation VR, and a lot of games. First, Sony and Microsoft both presented some really great looking games and showed amazing trailers to go along with them, for example God of War, Forza Horizon, or Gears of War 4. Some of the games were questionable like Call of Duty Infinite Warfare, developed by Infinity Ward, the producers of Call of Duty Modern Warfare. There was a lot of hatred towards that game but with recent releases of the beta people may have changed their minds. You can’t judge a book by it’s cover. They also announced one of the most anticipated games for the first person shooter community, Battlefield 1. It will hopefully give first person shooter gamers exactly what they have wanted. A return to the past, in war games. Next Microsoft and Sony announced some pretty exciting new systems. Microsoft announced the new Xbox One S, which is an upgrade to the Xbox One. It has 4k resolution (great quality) 4 terabytes of data and scarcely ever gets hacked. they also have a simple and easy to use homescreen making it easy to play. Sony also announced some upgrades to the PS4, the PS4 pro and the PS4 slim. The PS4 slim is a quick and easy device being smaller easier to set up. The PS4 pro like the Xbox One S will have good quality and more data and storage capacity. Sony also announced the Playstation VR, which is a new virtual reality system that should appeal more to the masses. Other VR systems like the Oculus Rift force you to have a high tech computer, lot’s of powerful software, a high definition camera, and a lot of other crazy things very few can get. This new VR system could be a way to improve the sales of the Playstation 4. Finally we will address something very different. Coming from Microsoft, a possible new console in the Xbox franchise. Claiming to be the most powerful console yet, is Project Scorpio. Compared to the PS4 pro, Microsoft may be right about that. Microsoft’s purpose for creating this device is to combine 4k, VR, and HDR (high definition range), all together. We still know very little about this device. Phil spencer, the chief of Xbox says "The important thing for Scorpio is that it's a dramatic step up for us in terms of hardware capability," he told The Verge in an interview last week. "Because as we saw 4K gaming and really high-end VR taking off in the PC space, we wanted to be able to bring that to console. Project Scorpio is actually an Xbox One that can natively run games in 4K and is built with the hardware capabilities to support the high-end VR that you see happening in the PC space today... when it ships it will be the most powerful console ever built." As you can see they aim to completely change the console experience, with 4k, VR, and HDR. In conclusion we will confirm that E3 2016 was a huge success. With new games and consoles and even some additions to these consoles, this next year will be very exciting for gamers around the world. |
