Who they let go: According to the Iowa State Cyclones, their seniors that they will be losing are: #5 Merrill Holder, a 224 pound forward, #10 Darrell Bowie, a 218 pound forward who played as a redshirt for Northern illinois until he transferred to Iowa State, #11 Monte` Morris, a 175 pound guard who stuck with Iowa State for his 4 years of college, and he has a bright NBA future, #30 Deonte Burton, a 250 pound guard who played for Marquette for two years before coming to Iowa State Basketball as a redshirt in 2016, #21 Matt Thomas, a 193 pound guard who has played for Iowa State for his four years, and Stuart Nezlek, a 245 pound center who was a walk on and has played for Iowa State for his 4 years of college. Senior Starters: Monte Morris: Monte Morris was recruited to play ISU basketball, and he has a future in the NBA. He was recruited to play in the NBA after the 2015-2016 season, but he decided to finish his last year at Iowa State as a senior, and then he will go to the NBA. According to ESPN, Monte’s stats were, 33.8 average minutes a game, 12.2 average points a game and .384% for 3 pointers. Deonte Burton: Deonte Burton played for Marquette for 2 years, but then he was recruited to play for Iowa State as a redshirt. He will enter the NBA draft as a free agent. According to ESPN Burton averaged 19.25 minutes a game, 9.5 total points a game, and .437% 3 pointers. Matt Thomas: Matt Thomas played for Iowa State for four years. He carried the team the most on their last game. According to ESPN Matts averages were, 25.25 average minutes a game, .386% for 3 pointers, and 8.4 points a game. How they lost their last game: On saturday March 18th, The Purdue Boilermakers and the Iowa State Cyclones faced off for a spot in the sweet 16. In the first half, Iowa State was Ice-cold, and couldn’t make a shot. Meanwhile Caleb Swanigan dominated the court, making a lot of his shots, while the purdue team monopolized the court. At the end of the half, Purdue led by 44-31. Furthermore, in the second half, things didn’t magically get better for the cyclones, in fact, at the start of the second half, it got worse! Then after a 19 point trail, Iowa State started playing even better, they were making a lot of 3 pointers. Iowa State later went into the lead by 2 points, with 4 minutes left in the game. Purdue then got the lead back, and held it by 2 points. With less than a minute left, Iowa State fouled Purdue, and Purdue consequently took the lead by 4 points.
